GETTING STARTED
Schutzhund / IPO / IGP was originally developed as a breed test for the German Shepherd, but was quickly implemented as the standard for the evaluation of five German breeds including the Boxer, Giant Schnauzer, Doberman Pinscher, and Rottweiler. The sport has evolved and opened up to many more breeds including the Belgian Malinois, Dutch Shepherd and the Beauceron, among others.
For those looking to get involved in the sport, it can be very overwhelming. There are many wonderful resources available to those looking for a general overview, as well as a better understanding of what is required in each phase.
